The Gender Studies Program at Mada al-Carmel published a new paper titled “Tourism as a Colonial Practice: Pinkwashing and the Israeli Pride Parade: Case Study”, authored by Rabeea Eid a Palestinian journalist, writer, and researcher in media and cultural studies.
The paper aims to deconstruct the existing relationship between colonialism and tourism. The writer proposes that tourism is a colonial practice. As a case study, he examines the Israeli pride parade in the city of Tel Aviv, and its connection to the concept of tourism as a colonial practice through its expressions within the Israeli pinkwashing policies.
It should be noted that the paper was published in both Arabic and English.
